Congratulations and Welcome to American English’s English
as a Second Language (ESL) self-study course.
This course is designed to teach English to adult
learners who wish to study independently or with an
English-speaking friend. The course has been designed to meet the
needs of learners at the low beginning to high intermediate
level. The series consists of eight levels. The first level is
intended for beginners or "false beginners". The second level as
well as the third level are designed for high beginners while the
fourth and fifth levels are intended for students at low
intermediate level. The last three levels of the series are
written for high intermediate students.The course has been
created by experienced teachers and is based upon proven
classroom strategies and techniques. The language orientation of
the program is toward International English and is designed to
prepare students to use the language in a variety of situations
and circumstances. Some units feature English speakers with
different accents, both regional and global.
